September Community Service Project

The Washington County Dems will participate in the “United Against Hunger” event for our September Community Service Project.

The Volunteer Center arranges for the assembly of thousands of meals for families in Washington County.

On Thursday, September 24th from 4:30 to 7:00 PM we will help prepare “Food Packages” at the Washington County Fairgrounds’ Ziegler Building.

If you can help package food, please contact Tanya Lohr at 414-467-8469 or telohr@charter.net .

There is no age limit on helping—kids are welcome too!

Here are some stats that might help you want to join us:

41% of Washington County students are eligible for free and reduced lunch

10% of Washington County residents receive FoodShare benefits in 2013, up from 2% in 2000

the number of “food insecure” seniors is projected to rise by 50% as Baby Boomers age
