Wed, December 14th – Monthly Membership Meeting AND Holiday Gathering: 7:00 – 8:30 PM
(You don’t have to be a member of the Wash. Co. Dems to attend! All welcome!)

We have changed December’s monthly meeting from the third Wednesday of the month to the second Wednesday of the month in order to avoid holiday conflicts.
Please join us on DECEMBER 14TH for our December meeting!

After the meeting, we will have a holiday get together. Please bring a holiday snack or treat to pass – we will provide beverages. This is a great opportunity to hang out with like minded folks and share some holiday cheer!

If you have questions, or you’d like to add an item to the agenda, please contact Tanya Lohr at 414-467-8469 or telohr@charter.net.

Gifts Ideas that Support Labor

One of the biggest ways we can impact the economic decisions being made at the state and national level is to be intentional in our economic purchases. Here are two great resources to use when shopping for yourself and others.

First, here is a list of Wisconsin made union products. After each company is the union its workers belong to. You can get a more detailed list at http://buywi.org/

Wisconsin-Made Gift Ideas
* Regal Ware Pots and Pans made in West Bend. (USW)
* Wigwam Socks made in Sheboygan. (UFCW)
* Rowe Pottery made in Cambridge.
* Miller Beer made in Milwaukee. (UAW Brewery Workers)
* Usinger’s Sausage and Smoked Meats made in Milwaukee. (UFCW and IUOE)
* Klement’s Sausages. (UFCW)
* Carmex Lip Balm made in Franklin, makes a great stocking stuffer.

It’s Sock Drive Time Once Again!

The Washington County Dems will be doing a sock drive for the Holiday Hope event at West Bend High Schools again this season. Holiday Hope is a party put on at the high school for students who might need a little extra holiday cheer during this time of year. Students are nominated by their teachers to attend and are selected for a variety of reasons including economic need, personal illness, family death, and emotional trauma.

Our sock donations have been one of the highlights of the event for the last two years and students who have participated in the past have already been asking if there will be socks again this year. Sometimes students choose socks for themselves and sometimes they choose them for family members (there is a gift wrap station at the party where students can wrap presents for family members if they wish).

There will be a basket at the office where sock donations can be dropped off. The last day for donating is WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14th!!!

Thank you so much for your donations!

Washington County Dem Breakfast

There is a group of Dems who meet for breakfast every (2nd and 4th Tuesday mornings at Top of the Ridge Restaurant at Cedar Ridge in West Bend. The group meets at 8:30 AM and leave around 9:30 AM. The next Dem breakfast is on Tuesday, December 13th!

Cedar Ridge is on the west side of West Bend. Take Hwy. 33 west out of
West Bend, then south on Scenic Drive West (note there are 3 Scenic Drives
in Washington County, I don’t know why). Then a left turn onto Cedar Ridge
Drive, park in the main parking lot.

The main entrance is 113 Cedar Ridge Drive.

Any questions, you can call Barb Landis at 262-334-2234.
