The following events will take place at the Washington County Democratic Party Office at 132 North Main Street in West Bend.

Saturday, February 28th from 10:00 AM to Noon: Phone Bank for “Forum” Invitations

telephoneWe will have a phone bank to make calls to invite people to our next “Forum.” These calls will be made to strong Democrats who may not have been to our office recently.

One of our goals this year is to reach out to new people in our community and invite them to join us for our events and activities. This is an important step towards strengthening our progressive voice in the community.

Monday, March 9th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM: “The Fight for $15 — Why Raising the Minimum Wage is Necessary”

Seattle-minimum-wage-555x285The organization “Wisconsin Jobs Now” will be presenting important information about raising the minimum wage in Wisconsin to $15-an hour.

Please join us in making blankets for “The Linus Project,” an organization that provides blankets for children experiencing trauma or grief in their lives. These blankets will be donated to the Washington County branch of “The Linus Project” to be distributed right here in our county.

All are welcome. There will be projects for people who can knit, sew, crochet, plus projects for those without those skills.

Time to Meet, Celebrate And Work Together At The Washington County Dem Office

The following events will take place at the Washington County Democratic Party Office at 132 North Main Street in West Bend.

Wednesday, February 18th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM: Membership Meeting and Celebration

Join us as we celebrate THREE YEARS on Main Street.

During the meeting we will be discussing the upcoming spring elections, creating a plan to contact drop-off members (that is, members who have not renewed their membership), and planning our next Washington County Dem Party “actions.”

As we start our fourth year, we note and celebrate the fact that our office has allowed us to have a continual presence in our community. We have been able to host monthly forums, complete community service projects, host monthly membership meetings, host special guest speakers and be available to provide information.

Please consider making a donation to keeping the Wash Dem Office open.

Washington County Dems Will Be Bowling For Kids’ Sake

open-bowling-strikeThe Washington County Dems will once again be fielding a team for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters “Bowl-A-Thon!”

Last year we were the second highest fundraiser of the day. If you’d like to make a donation, you can drop it off at the office or send it to Tanya Lohr at 6244 Gilbert Circle, West Bend, WI 53095.

Checks should be made out to “Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Washington County.”

Tuesday, February 10th:  An “Action Team” Meeting on “Stop the Testing!” from 7:00 to 8:30 PM

We have formed a “Stop the Testing! Action Team in response to the energy that was created at our forum last Wednesday. This group will meet 1408571032000-Opt-out-01to work on the “next steps” needed to address the issue of mass standardized testing in our public schools.

This team is open to the public. You do NOT have to have been at last week’s forum to join this team. We would love to have a large group to tackle this important issue.
